Surge protector installation in Rincon

A whole house surge protector mounts at the main panel on its own breaker. When voltage spikes, it diverts the excess to ground in a fraction of a second. Our surge protector installation in Rincon also checks the grounding system, because a surge device is only as good as the ground it dumps into.

Why surges are a problem in New Mexico

New Mexico's summer monsoon produces a great deal of lightning, and rural lines are long and exposed. Surges also come from inside the home every time a large motor starts, and from the utility when power comes back after an outage. Modern appliances are full of circuit boards that don't tolerate any of it well.

Layered protection for electronics

The best setup is layered: a panel-mounted device for the whole house, plus good point-of-use protectors for computers, televisions and network gear. We can also protect a sub panel in a shop or a well pump controller.

You should consider surge protection in Rincon if

• You've lost electronics after a storm before
• Your power flickers or drops out often
• You have a well pump, mini-splits or a new HVAC system
• You work from home on expensive equipment
• You're replacing or upgrading the panel anyway
